ShutterZam is the senior project of
Aaron Corso, a former student of Fairfield High School and now a college student at
Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He created the site to help people store and share their photos, and make photo editing convenient, and not require special software. The project grew larger as time went on, and many new social features were added that were not originally planned. The site began development in April 2007 and was officially finished on October 7, 2007. While originally only an experiment in interactive web applicatons, a major upgrade to the site was made in June 2009 to create more stability and improve use for the general public.
